James Smith is a recognized expert in the world of sleep. As the co-founder of Sleep Re-Defined and Mattress Center USA, James has dedicated his life to improving lives through restful and regenerative sleep, one person at a time.
James Smiths' journey to understanding sleep began at an early stage in his life when he lost his father, forcing him to find work and support his family. James discovered his natural gifting in sales with an honest style of influence and an ability to help people.
In eight short years, Smith climbed the leadership ladder and became the VP of Sales for a large regional sleep retailer on the west coast. Through that experience, he was introduced to NLP
( Nero Linguistic Programing ) a communication platform that would transform his future. This discovery helped him form a proprietary sales model that enables sales teams to understand and guide customers to keep sleep a priority.

As a consultant, James has worked with other top professionals in sales communication and the NLP field. He specializes in the development of salespeople, managers, and teams in multiple industries including Sleep, Cellular, Electronics, Stock Brokerage Firms, and the Automotive Industry.
In the mid-90s, James helped build and grow a new niche mattress retail chain, Mattress Land. As partner and VP of Store Operations and Sales, he facilitated the development and growth of the company throughout five western states. With this partnership, he set out to find a new, more predictable, and scientific approach to fitting and aligning his customers with the right mattress.

This journey led him to many hours of sleep education, manufacturing concepts, and the Sleep to Live Institute, an innovative mattress and sleep research team sponsored by Kingsdown Mattress company.
​
Most recently, Smith has formed the new SleepFit Corporation, which implements the use of a mattress diagnostic technology. He has participated in numerous sleep educational expert events such as ISPA (International Sleep Products Association) and Shift, an annual think tank dedicated to improving lives through technology. In addition, James has learned from top neuroscientists and sleep doctors, both in private practice and at universities.

Improving sleep has become a lifetime passion for James. Having witnessed firsthand, the positive and successful results that can be achieved by using his tailored process, he knows and understands the critical role of sleep in both adults and children. Kids Sleep Matters is one of his many programs tailored towards families; educating and building healthy sleep habits for kids and teens. On a mission to help change the conversation about how we prioritize sleep, James is well versed at what actions we can take to improve our sleep and have healthier lives.
